Mark Styler is a writer of ‘true crime ‘stories who arrives at Fairfields hospital for the criminally insane intent on interviewing a notorious serial killer, Easterman, for his upcoming novel. He meets Dr. Farquhar, the hospital director; however things don’t seem quite right. Dr. Farquhar‘s assistant Nurse Plimpton seems frightened of something. Styler’s fight for a story may be his last.
Suspense, intrigue, twists and turns and a question of sanity, all served with a scrumptious peppering of jet black comedy.
“Don’t forget to Breathe”
This play is very much in keeping with the current popular true crime films and TV shows but has the added bonus of a good splattering of black humour. There are also a lot of good questions raised, such as the meaning of reality and how do you perceive reality? “What are we, but what others perceive of us?”
MINDGAME is an excellent play from one of the current great mystery and adventure writers. Anthony Horowitz is a name that many people will know but maybe not quite put their finger on. Some of his screenplay credits include MIDSOMER MURDERS, POIROT, ROBIN OF SHERWOOD, FOYLE’S WAR, COLLISION, INJUSTICE, YELLOW GOLD, THE GATHERING, STORMBREAKER, TINTIN plus many more.
