A Modern Day Tragi-Comedy Written In Iambic Pentameter
It’s Sunday afternoon; Northbridge, Perth. Two sets of friends are about to embark upon the weekly ritual of ‘Sunday Session’ with besties, to talk about their woeful weeks, let off a little steam and bitch about the men and women in their lives.
Jamie and Elliott, best mates, and Claire and Anna, best friends, meet in a bar and plough head-on into the dating world; a modern world of mistrust, un-chartered emotional psyches, fragile egos and relationship baggage.
Jamie has a history of short term relationships and has just dumped Jessica, whom he describes as being ‘psycho’ and is looking for a distraction. Elliott, his wingman, has a secret: he’s gay, is in love with his best mate, and Jamie hasn’t a clue. Claire and Anna are both young, modern, independent women who have had enough of men and their complicated ways, but both secretly desire for their Prince Charmings to come sweep them off their feet.
Narrated by an all-seeing and all-knowing homeless man and a seedy barfly, who both watch over this confusing and desperate world. Add to this a rag-tag bunch of random Friday-night revellers and the down-trodden workers of the seedy bars and clubs they inhabit.
A modern day tragi-comedy, written in iambicpentameter, which dissects the world of dating and love in a time when social rules, political correctness, scientific studies and unrealistic Hollywood portrayals of love and destiny dominate.
The play contains some coarse language and adult themes.
