Welcome to Playlovers, One of WA's foremost community theatre groups

Let us entertain you

Vale – Sue Hayward

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Sue Hayward, one of the greats of the Perth theatre scene.

Sue passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 18th after a short battle with cancer. She took a sudden turn for the worse on Sunday and was taken into intensive care. According to her daughter, Jen, her passing was peaceful and painless, and she was surrounded by family and close friends.

Sue has contributed so much, mainly as a director, to community theatre. She directed Vagina Monologues for Playlovers in 2007; and was to direct Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf this year.  When her illness was diagnosed, only a few months ago, she was still determined to do Virginia Woolf, and so we were in the process of re-scheduling it for early next year. When I last spoke with her late last week, she was bright, chirpy and as passionate as ever about the production and her plans for next year.

She left us far too soon and will be sadly missed.

Tributes to Sue can be seen on the ITA website:
